EARS Volunteer Deployment Resources

UAN offers the following resources to volunteers who are preparing for or returning from a deployment.

This page is not intended for distribution; contents are intended solely for trained, active EARS volunteers.


before you go checklist

  • Make sure your tetanus vaccination is current.
  • Make sure you have your EARS badge.
  • Print and sign the Indemnity and Hold Harmless Release [PDF].
    If you have not been on a deployment in the last 12 months, or are instructed to do so in your deployment confirmation e-mail, please print, sign and bring with you.
  • Review the EARS Volunteer Manual and Standard Operating Guidelines [PDF].
    This document includes information detailing standard operating guidelines (SOGs) for how EARS conducts its work in most situations. SOGs are a method of recording and sharing best practices for the many detailed aspects of operating a temporary emergency shelter. The file is 2 MB and may take a few minutes to download.

    Volunteers can use this document to track expenses while on deployment for tax purposes. This is for a volunteer's individual use only. UAN does not offer reimbursement for costs associated with deploying as an EARS volunteer.
